There are 5 components to our organization:
1) MENTOR. We mentor high-risk also known as high-needs populations through learning. The
goal is to get at-risk youth and adults out of poverty by obtaining a college degree through the
use of series of mentors using a 3-tier system which includes self-esteem building, career
exploration, and civic participation.
We seek a variety of mentors. They range from the dedicated and hardworking young adult from
the local department store who may be paying their way through college, to those who hold key
positions as community leaders and in the corporate world. This variety of mentors is key to the
success of our program as this type of individual shows our mentees the importance of honest
work and the value of a working person. We also seek mentors in industries who in many
cases selflessly risk their own lives for the well-being of others. Pairing up with this kind of adult
teaches our youth the non-violent approach to risk-taking and the importance of human life.
They feel secure and safe as they experience healthy ways of relating.
2) CASE MANAGEMENT. We case manage families who are at or below the federal poverty
income guidelines and who have been this way for at least 2 generations. We also serve the
middle-class in these current times.

INTERESTS AND ACTIVITIES
The youth we live in a rich country where blessed with so much. It would be a
waste not to use our money and human resources to help those that need it the
most productively.
Why we got started
The program director's story.....
Although she resided in Arizona at the time she first came
to recognize the need for such a mentoring program while
at a public relations conference in San Francisco, during
her studies at Arizona State University. Sometimes
stepping out and away can show you things you ordinarily
tend not to see.
Her experiences in Oakland were compelling. An hour after
arriving at the airport, those that lived in the city reported
the effects of a slew of heinous crimes that occurred over
the weekend. These crimes included excessive stabbings
in which, children as young as 14-years old were victims.
Listening to this story she wondered if such was an
isolated but very unfortunate incident, where 5 teenage
children were all reported dead in just a short weekend.
Trying not to let this damper her visit to the gorgeous city,
she went about her business and checked into her hotel
across the bridge in San Francisco.
A couple of days later during her visit to West Oakland, she
learned that a key organization, created to help these
young children get employed and into productive activity
was going to be dispelled. Through research she learned
its parent nonprofit, in charge of the federal funds for this
youth project the Oakland Private Industry Council, was
going through an in-house challenge and wasn't able to
accept her services of fund-raising to keep the project
alive. She also learned that part of the challenge was that
their were bureaucratic policies that prevented her from
assisting, which she did not fully comprehend at the time.
Thus, she decided to develop this current program and
shall fully implement it as a means to resolve this national
epidemic.
The story continues....
While visiting the city for a public relations conference, the
program developer did background work wanting to get a
sense of a need for such an organization, thus there were
two surveys conducted. Reports showed that the
high-number of youth ages 14-16 who had been slain that
weekend was not an isolated incident!
Statistics demonstrated that such deaths occur in the major
inner cities where poverty is at its peek, on a regular basis.
And yes, to children who are female and as young as
14-years old, as did in Oakland that weekend.
So, this is why Facing the Future with Hope Mentor
Initiative and Case Management Program exists, and you
are henceforth being invited to learn more about how you
can become a part of the solution to what is the
underutilization of one of America's finest resources...her
youth!
During these times we can all agree that we need to gather
all the talent available to ensure the riches of our nation.
We all know in our hearts that these precious people
deserve a chance. We live in a rich country blessed with so
much. It would be a waste not to use our money and human
captial to help those that show great promise who will in
turn help boost GDP.
Also, for those who fear that such crime may reach into
their neck of the woods you may be especially motivated to
have a hand in eliminating the violence and help in creating
effective solutions. This pool is very motivated yet they
just need direction in channelling their energy. Ironically,
well over the majority of this demographic despite their
circumstances of coming from a challenged home life are
stunner students and very committed to service.
Last thoughts....
In many of our families, our parents told us what college to
attend and we knew basic information such as taking the
SAT or ACT was necessary for entrance into college. Our
parents or caretakers may have even told us what colleges
they wanted us to attend and had the applications ready for
us to practice filling out by the 9th grade.
Yet, these children and young adults require the same
guidance. Most have high hopes for their lives, yet they
simply need direction.
Thus, we accept those who are interested to be on our
national board or on our local auxiliary committees.
Committee participation is helpful for those who desire to
serve yet require greater flexibility. We are looking for you
who care, share similar values and passion to donate
money, building space and so importantly human capital.
We are always looking for caring and knowledgeable
mentors! Special thanks to those of you who have already
contributed your intellectual resources via community
service to assist in this venture. You will not be forgotten!!!
Soon to come expanded services in major cities throughout
the United States. Phoenix metro, Chicago, Oregon, New
York, and Oakland to list a few.
Remember all donations are tax-deductible.
